Protecting Your Business against Earthquakes

As a responsible business owner you will no doubt be aware of the importance of protecting your investment against unforeseen events. Having general California business insurance is a good way to help make sure an unexpected event doesn’t devastate your business financially, but have you considered taking out earthquake insurance for added protection?

Earthquake coverage is not generally included in a commercial insurance policy, which means you will need to purchase it separately to make sure you have coverage against what is an extremely common Californian event. You should be able to purchase earthquake insurance as an endorsement to your regular business insurance policy to provide coverage for damage to buildings and property or as a separate policy entirely.

As well as having earthquake coverage, it is a good idea to make sure you have some other types of California business insurance that can help in the aftermath of an earthquake. Business interruption insurance can help keep your business’ head above water while you clear up and prepare to reopen after an earthquake or other natural disaster covered by your insurance. With the number of earthquakes experienced in California each year, having adequate insurance is something every business owner should take seriously.
